Ayanna Porter better known by her stage name INOJ(pronounced "I-N-O-J"), is an American singer and songwriter and soft-voiced pop-R&B vocalist. She began singing at age seven and was raised in Madison, Wisconsin. During college in Baltimore, Maryland, she was in a group called Spellbound.

In 1997, she released her debut single, "Love You Down", a cover of Ready for the World's 1986 hit that reached #25 on the Billboard 100 in the United States.

Her debut album was also named Ready for the World. INOJ released a cover version of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" under Columbia Records in 1998, which was a Billboard Top 10 hit in the United States (#6), Canada (#7), and New Zealand (#10).

In 1998, she released her debut album, Ready for the World. She also released a cover version of "Ring My Bell" as a single in 2000.

INOJ is often mistakenly credited for the track "My Boo (I Want To Be Your Lady Baby)", performed by the Ghost Town DJ's which had vocals by singer Virgo (who also had several songs on the So So Def Bass All-Stars compilations).

INOJ has written for various artists including Billy Crawford and Janet Jackson. The song "Nine to Five" features INOJ on Billy Crawford's 2007 CD release, It's Time.

In the following year  she release a new single "Baby You" in 2008. Her next scheduled release of "My Baby" on Janet Jackson's Damita Jo was co-written by INOJ (aka Joni), Kanye West, Sean Garrett and Janet Jackson. INOJ also sings background vocals on the song.

INOJ remains active in the studio writing and recording new music. Since 2016, she’s released two singles and fan favorites with “My Love For You” in 2016 and “L Y D (Love You Down)” during the summer of 2017. L Y D has become a top 5 hit on Spotify in early 2018.

On June 8, 2018,  INOJ released her new original single “September Love”  which is an uptempo pop hit produced by Grammy Nominated and Dove Award winning producer, Portier!

This single is featured in the Pop, R&B, and Soul categories. Now Available: iTunes |Amazon | Pandora | Google Play |Spotify!  INOJ’s soft sweet vocals project a perfect balance between lyric and the uptempo melody in the song.

“This song is about a girl who knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to go against the status quo to get the love she desires and not just a Netflix and chill situation. That works for some and that’s their prerogative but she’s looking for L – O - V - E!” - INOJ
